Folsom Freedom is a project developed by DIVE S.r.l. in collaboration with Ferrovie dello Stato, the Italian Ministry of Justice, and the Italian Ministry of Public Education. It leverages Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR) to deliver an immersive education and training experience designed to support the social and professional reintegration of people in detention. Through hands-on simulations, secure virtual environments, and interactive learning pathways, the project aims to reduce the risk of reoffending while strengthening job-ready technical skills that can be immediately applied in the labor market.
The project is built on an innovative platform, optimized for the latest-generation VR headsets, enabling multiple correctional facilities to connect through a shared network and exchange educational content—paving the way for a new model of inclusive, technology-driven learning. It is a pathway that turns training into a moment of mental freedom and genuine opportunity, helping people in detention build a more dignified and sustainable future.
